: At card trick central, there is a trick showing
: you how to do the back palm but it is not
: very clear for me. Are the cards supposed to be
: behind your fingers, or the back of your hand?
: Jeff McBride did a routine on wgm. But I think
: some of the time he also showed the back of his
: hand before he made the cards appear! How is
: that done? I have an item in a catalog you can
: order called, "deluxe card catcher" . Supposedly
: you can show the front and back of your hand
: and then catch a card out of air. Does anyone know
: how this gimmick works. It is $5.

First, the card catcher is a metal plate with small clips (to hold the cards) and two pieces of metal that clips to the back of your finger. You're very limited in what you can do with it- you can hold your hand with the palm facing the audience and produce cards- period. You have to get the clip on and off your hand without letting the audienc see, you can never show the back of your hand, and no serious performer would even consider using it. If you want to do card manipulation it's a waste of $5t.

Jeff McBride is one of the best card manipulators alive. L&L publishing sells his 3 video set which gives a tremendous amount of information on card productions and card manipulation. Most of it is not very easy (most of it is very difficult and takes a *lot* of practice)- you could spend years learning to do just 1/2 of the things he teaches on those videos (and he does them all perfectly).
